The National Garden Scheme has a rich and interesting history – with humble beginnings in the early 1900s when we first started supporting district nurses, to donating millions of pounds to nursing and health charities over 90 years later.
Unfortunately, in line with the government guidelines on Covid-19, we have had to cancel all garden openings up to the end of June. This is only the second time in our 93 year history that we have had to do this, the first time was in the Second World War.
However, we are working on a campaign of virtual garden tours, which we are launching next week. We are building up a library of short video clips, mostly filmed by garden owners in their garden with their own commentary which we will encourage people to view as the next best thing to actually visiting a garden and to make a donation – perhaps in lieu of what they might have spent on a visit. The very best way to keep up to date with our plans is to sign up to our newsletter and, if you do not already receive it, please do sign up clicking the link here: https://ngs.org.uk/sign-up/.
