Duruflé Requiem and Readings
This community performance to commemorate the centenary of Armistice Day will be the musical highlight of the Warwick Poppies tribute. Readings of World War I poetry will be interleaved with the music to explore the themes of prayer, anguish and salvation that permeate Duruflé’s Requiem.
Some of Warwick’s finest musicians combine forces to form the Warwick Poppies Chorus and Foundation Poppies Ensemble in this collaborative presentation of Duruflé’s masterpiece, under the baton of Alex Laing.
Da Capo Chamber Choir, the Gentlemen of St Mary’s Choir, King’s High Senior Choir and other friends form the Chorus, while the Poppies Ensemble comprises senior pupils and professionals from the Warwick Foundation schools.
Please note that this is a free event. Seating is unreserved but free tickets must be obtained in advance from Bridge House Theatre box office www.bridgehousetheatre.co.uk 01926 776438 or St Mary’s Shop.
